“Resource Spotlight Monday”: Today, the Gender and Identity Factors Platform (GIFP) features “Agents of Change: Transforming Gender roles and Extremism in Somalia.”
Published by the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN), this case study utilizes gender-based analysis plus (GBA+) to explore how gender roles, including those of women and men, challenge violent extremist rhetoric conducive to terrorism. For example, the resource goes onto identifying the roles undertaken by some women in Al-Shabaab, and the corresponding efforts taken by a local civil society organization, Witness Somalia, to utilize art to counter terrorism and counter/prevent violent extremism (CT/PCVE).
