“Resource Spotlight Monday”: Today, the Gender and Identity Factors Platform (GIFP) features resources that explore questions of gender and counter-terrorism in Indonesia. The Resource Library contains a growing list of resources specific to various countries and national contexts, offering practical insights and case studies surrounding gender and counter-terrorism.
In May 2018, Indonesia faced the bombings of a churches, and a police headquarters that facilitated the involvement of the wives and children of terrorist fighters. Confronted by questions surrounding the role(s) women can play in terrorist attacks, the Government of Indonesia brought gender to the forefront of their counter-terrorism efforts, offering promising practices as to how counter-terrorism approaches can mainstream gender effectively.
