“Resource Spotlight Monday”: Today, the Gender and Identity Factors Platform (GIFP) features resources that explore questions of gender and counter-terrorism in Indonesia. The Resource Library contains a growing list of resources specific to various countries and national contexts, offering practical insights and case studies surrounding gender and counter-terrorism.  

In May 2018, Indonesia faced the bombings of a churches, and a police headquarters that facilitated the involvement of the wives and children of terrorist fighters. Confronted by questions surrounding the role(s) women can play in terrorist attacks, the Government of Indonesia brought gender to the forefront of their counter-terrorism efforts, offering promising practices as to how counter-terrorism approaches can mainstream gender effectively. The resources below offer case studies, analysis of practices and policies on how gender-responsive approach can be adopted to better understand, prevent and counter violent extremism and terrorism in Indonesia. GIFP Resource Library offers human rights-based resources spanning a multitude of thematic areas of focus across the nexus of gender CT/PCVE, outlining some of the key concepts critical to understanding gender dynamics within terrorism and violent extremism, as well as the programmes and policies that seek to counter and prevent them.
