Resource Spotlight Monday - Exploring Resources on the Gendered Dynamics of Cybersecurity

“Resource Spotlight Monday”: Today, the Gender and Identity Factors Platform (GIFP) features five resources that underline the gender dimensions within cyber security and new technologies. 

The resources touch upon several important aspects. First, they remind readers that technology is gendered, which means that the ways in which technologies are either developed and/or used reflect specific gendered roles, expectations and stereotypes sometimes resulting in gendered harm. Second, they show how gender perspectives and analysis are important for understanding cybersecurity generally, for identifying specific gender-based harms online and offline, and for addressing women’s participation. Third, they demonstrate how gender-based violence online can feed offline violence. Fourth, they look at how violent extremist and terrorist groups exploit technology to radicalize and recruit men and women. These resources include:
