The Gender and Identity Factors Platform (GIFP) would like to honor International Women's Day! On this occasion, GIFP reaffirms its commitment to #InvestInWomen and accelerate progress, ensuring women and girlsĀ“ full, equal and meaningful participation in our collective efforts to counter terrorism and prevent and counter violent extremism (CT/PCVE).

In line with the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, GIFP recognises how terrorism and counter-terrorism may impact women and girls and men and boys differently. Similarly, women and men may have various roles within terrorist groups as victims, supporters, facilitators, or perpetrators. However, in line with the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda, women and girls can also effectively contribute to lasting security and peace, as well as the prevention of violent extremism conducive to terrorism.

It is within this context that GIFP is dedicated to promoting gender-responsive policies and approaches in the fight against terrorism. Throughout the coming weeks and months, GIFP looks forward to learning and working with its members to promote the integration of gender and identity factors from the design through to the implementation and evaluation of CT/PCVE programmes and policies.

Together, let's build a future where peace, security, and equality prevail for all. Happy International Women's Day!
