A Man’s World? Exploring the Roles of Women in Countering Terrorism and Violent Extremism.

An edited volume, with chapters addressing the role of women and women’s CSOs in CT and PCVE, and others addressing women’s radicalization and participation in violent extremism. There is some context specific analysis on Daesh. While the geographic scope of the publication is global, it also has specific examples from Afghanistan, Nigeria and the UK. The conclusions recommend: programs and policies address the gender dimension in CT and PCVE - beginning by identifying how many women are involved in violent extremism, CT and PCVE, the different women’s roles in violent extremism, CT and PCVE, and where PCVE and CT effect men and women differently; that there is increased funding and context appropriate programming for women; that statutory bodies work with and support women’s based organizations; that gender is addressed in national action plans; that men and boys are included in discussions on gender; that there is funding for gender sensitive research.
